Granny-ola Bars!

Ingredients you are likely to have in the pantry + easy recipe = yummy food is my kind of cooking. I’ve loved this recipe for about 20 years. It was sent to me the first time when I was living overseas in a care package. I loved it! I requested it again at her house in Canada. I requested the recipe years later for my daughter & we’ve been making it ever since. I hadn’t planned to share recipes on my page but this one is too good not to. It was Susan’s Granola Bars. But my clever daughter re-named it Granny-ola Bars & this has stuck. It’s so much nicer than bought muesli bars. I have the original recipe on a small card (recycled piece) written by Granny herself, who is the recycling Queen as well as awesome cook. Adapted slightly for Aussie cooks.

1. Melt together
¾ cup brown sugar
½ cup hard butter

2. Add to saucepan & mix
2/3 cup peanut butter
½ cup Golden Syrup

3. in separate bowl, mix together
3 cups of rolled oats
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 cup choc chips
1 cup nuts
½ cup sultanas

4. Mix ingredients in saucepan with dry ingredients – well

5. Grease tray (rectangle tray with high sides)

6. Put mixture into tray & press down

7. Cook on 180 degrees Celsius for approx. 15 minutes.

8. Put in fridge to cool & keep.

9. Cut into sized pieces you like.

{Alternatively – if you don’t have enough oats or other ingredients, substitute, I only had one cup oats & 2 cups of home-made muesli which had nuts & things in it & used this instead of adding the sesame seeds, nuts or sultanas}
